Chelation 2011-2012, The Interschool Chemistry Culturals

Chelation 2011-2012, the interschool chemistry culturals hosted by P.S. Senior Secondary School was held on Thursday, 5th of January 2012 at the school premises between 9.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.  The programme was held to celebrate the International year of Chemistry.

 The programme was the culmination of over two months of extensive preparation and organization by the students of classes XI and XII.

 The chief guest for the programme was Professor Dr. V. Srinivasan, a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry.  He is a retired reader from Loyola College where he served for over 20 years.  He was the judge for the event ‘Be a Professor’ along with Professor M. Balaji from Vivekananda College.  Other eminent judges included Mrs. Chandrika Rajaram, Dr. U. Kameshwari, Professor Dr. P. Balasubramaniam and Mrs. Anandavalli who presided over other events such as ‘Polar and Non-Polar’ (Block & Tackle), ‘Quest-ions’ (Quiz), ‘Mute Reaction’ (Dumb charades), ‘Chemical Bond 007’ (Lab Adventure), ‘Chemystery’ (Lexicon) and ‘Chromophilia’ (Poster Making).  The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 19 city schools.

 Maharishi Vidya Mandir won Polar and Non-polar, Mute Reactions and Be a Professor.  Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, K.K. Nagar, National Public School and DAV Boys Gopalapuram won chromophilia, Chemystery, Quest-ions and Chemical Bond 007 respectively
