P.C. SEKHAR MEMORIAL BOYS UNDER – 14 CRICKET TOURNAMENT

P.C. Sekhar Memorial Cricket Tournament (Under – 14 Boys) for Sanmar cup organized by P.S. Senior Secondary School was conducted from 4^th of January to the 12^th of January 2012. The tournament was inaugurated by Shri. R. Jesuraj, South Zone Ranji Trophy player. The tournament drew participation from 31 city schools.

Mr. C. Hemanth Kumar, South Zone Ranji Trophy Player presided over the function and distributed the prizes. Shri. M. Ramji, Secretary, P.S. Educational Society, Shri. A.N. Radhakrishan, Correspondent, P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mrs. Lakshmi Srinivasan, Principal of the host school and Mr. Sundar Raman, Chief Executive, Corporate Services, The Sanmar Group were present on the occasion.

The semifinals was played between:

Chettinad Vidyashram & St. Bede’s
P.S. Senior Secondary School & Santhome Higher Secondary School.

In the finals played between Chettinad Vidyashram and Santhome Hr. Sec. School and Chettinad Vidyashram emerged winners in the tournament with Santhome Hr. Sec. School securing the runners up position.

Prizes for outstanding performance in the tournament were awarded to the following students.

1. Player of the Finals - S. Siddharth of Chettinad Vidyashram

2. Best Batsman - P.S. Raghul of Santhome Hr. Sec. School

3. Best Bowler - M. Siddharth of Chettinad Vidyashram

4. Most Promising young cricketer - K.A. Ajith of P.S. Senior Secondary School.

Chelation 2011-2012, The interschool Chemistry Culturals

Chelation 2011-2012, the interschool chemistry culturals hosted by P.S. Senior Secondary School was held on Thursday, 5^th of January 2012 at the school premises between 9.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. The programme was held to celebrate the International year of Chemistry.

The programme was the culmination of over two months of extensive preparation and organization by the students of classes XI and XII.

The chief guest for the programme was Professor Dr. V. Srinivasan, a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry. He is a retired reader from Loyola College where he served for over 20 years. He was the judge for the event ‘Be a Professor’ along with Professor M. Balaji from Vivekananda College. Other eminent judges included Mrs. Chandrika Rajaram, Dr. U. Kameshwari, Professor Dr. P. Balasubramaniam and Mrs. Anandavalli who presided over other events such as ‘Polar and Non-Polar’ (Block & Tackle), ‘Quest-ions’ (Quiz), ‘Mute Reaction’ (Dumb charades), ‘Chemical Bond 007’ (Lab Adventure), ‘Chemystery’ (Lexicon) and ‘Chromophilia’ (Poster Making). The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 19 city schools.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir won Polar and Non-polar, Mute Reactions and Be a Professor. Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, K.K. Nagar, National Public School and DAV Boys Gopalapuram won chromophilia, Chemystery, Quest-ions and Chemical Bond 007 respectively

The Bournvita Quiz 2011 Inter School Round in Chennai was held on Dec.8 2011.

Our school team emerged City winners and qualified for the National Level Contest at Calcutta.
